BLUE WHALES
SOHO THEATRE & RADA FESTIVAL

Blue Whales tells the story of a friendship between two Luton schoolgirls in the decade following the 2005 London bombings. British Muslim Aisha and Tiva, a policeman’s daughter, compete annually for their school’s Morris Science Scholarship against a bewildering backdrop of sexual paranoia, cultural prejudice and the roller-coaster fortunes of boy band Blue. A rite of passage tale for our times.
Blue Whales started life as a one-act play for Tamasha Playwrights at Soho Theatre in 2015. It won the first Luton Scrip Lab, premiering at The Hat Factory, Luton Festival as a full-length play. After further development at RADA and Tamasha Playwrights it featured in 2016 RADA Festival, starring RADA alumni Isabelle Brazier-Jones and Gurkiran Kaur, directed by Sally Woodcock.
