DRAMA IS CONFLICT

Internal, external, personal and political, MESH stages the most compelling stories of human conflict.

Our shows create high impact, shared experiences around our conflicted past and unfolding present.

Founded by Sally Woodcock in 2016, MESH is an acronym of her four grandparent's names - Margery, Ethilinda, Stanley and Herbert - each of whom bore physical and mental scars from surviving both world wars. MESH's first highly-acclaimed production was classic World War One trench drama JOURNEY'S END by R C Sheriff (2017 & 2018) in Ypres, Belgium, in the iconic Gunpowder Store, hosted by In Flanders Field Museum. The production returned to Flanders in 2019 by popular demand for a sold-out run at the historic WW1 officers club Skindles Poperinge.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Worth a trip to Belgium" (The Telegraph)

This was followed by a tour of THE SOLDIER by multi award-winning playwright Rachel Wagstaff (Flowers for Mrs Harris; Birdsong), inspired by the life of poet Rupert Brooke. The show opened at The Orchard at  Old Vicarage, Grantchester (title of his other famous poem) in December 2018 and toured the UK & Belgium in 2019 to venues including Salisbury Playhouse; Kings College Cambridge; The Painted Hall at Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich;  Great War Huts, Suffolk; The Macready Theatre, Rugby & St George's Church, Ypres.

In 2024/5, MESH launches a line-up of bold new productions. For updates check here.
